Cocaine Addiction and Rehab Treatment in British Columbia
Cocaine abuse has become a common problem affecting many of the regions in the world today. More and more people have grown addicted to cocaine and this is indirectly affecting the state of most countries, especially economically. This is because those that tend to engage in cocaine abuse end up being rogues that can in no way help improve the economy of their area. As a matter of fact, they end up engaging in activities such as theft to fund their cocaine addiction.
Among the most affected provinces is British Columbia. It has been said that over 37% of the total population has been hooked on cocaine abuse. On the other hand, 50% of the affected individuals are teenagers below the age of twenty. This means that in British Columbia many start abusing of these drugs at a very tender age. Statistics have shown that many of the teens and young adults, that is, anybody below the age of thirty, tend to die still very young. In fact, there are more elderly people than are young people in the province. In the year 2009, the British Columbian government made a statement regarding cocaine abuse in the province. In this statement, it was said that one of the main reasons behind the increased cocaine addiction rates in the region is the availability of the drug, especially in the big metropolitan areas such as Prince George and Vancouver. British Columbia is highly known for its rich blend of various language-speaking individuals that make up its population ranging from English speakers to Arabic speakers. It is this rich blend that has led to the availability of drugs since peddlers from various corners of the world find it easier to blend in. At the end of it all, one can easily get cocaine in the streets of Vancouver and all of British Columbia, without any hassle.
A survey done in some cocaine rehab centers all over the world showed that British Columbia has one of the largest number of cocaine rehab patients in the world. This was attributed to the fact that the use of cocaine in the region is a bit excessive as compared to most of its neighboring regions. During the same survey, most of the cocaine rehab patients were asked to say why it is that they prefer using cocaine rather than the other kinds of drugs. A couple of reasons came up but the two most common ones were that cocaine is easily available in British Columbia plus it tends to give them extra pleasure.
There are a few ways through which these individuals take the drug. The two most common means of cocaine abuse in the region is through intranasal means (snorting) or injections. The intravenous or injection means is highly popular in the region. Most of the users here believe that this tends to increase the pleasure. However, it is not as common as inhalation or intranasal means.
