How do I Know if Someone is Addicted to Drugs?

By looking at a person it is not possible to know if he has any serious drug addiction problem. They appear to be normal except when the craving for the drug starts manifesting itself. However, family members, close friends and colleagues in office can make out from their behavioral pattern. The first and foremost will be visible at the work place where the superiors will find his work unsatisfactory and also notice that he fails repeatedly in meeting his targets. Family members can also detect the failing because of the way he fails repeatedly to carry out family and home obligations. With the addiction getting more and more intense the person will start losing interest in social life and will avoid friends.

A very serious indication is the person’s inclination to become violent. This happens when he is in very much need of the much hated drug to calm him down. He becomes more and more inactive and as a result he may start using higher dosages. Since, he will be using a prohibitive material and also he may be short of funds he will be starting to spend more and more time to locate and find a person for getting the material cheaply. This has the effect of his not having the time to attend to his normal duties. His attempts to get out of the habit without proper medical advice leads to severe withdrawal symptoms causing more psychological damage.

Any drug addict who has gone beyond normal health can be spotted even by the lusterless eyes. Other unfavorable symptoms are loss of self esteem and development of inferiority complex which leads to his shunning all social activities. Talking to such persons will usually result in lack of response or mono syllable replies. Not all the above symptoms will be visible in the case of persons who are in the threshold of getting addicted.
