I keep failing at Quitting, What can I do?

One need not be an alcoholic or drink addict to exclaim that in spite of his best efforts is not able to quit the habit. This is what everyone says after consuming a little more than what is good for him. It is true that drinking is habit forming, over a period of time and many people start getting the urge to have one at certain periods of the day. Failure or difficulty in quenching the urge at any particular time may have an adverse effect on mental faculties. It is when it gets noticed at public place that the person realizes that is high time to get out of the habit immediately.

The problem with such people is that they give up drinking for some time and start all over again. There is no point in intelligent people asking for advice on such a simple matter as giving up drinking, if he has not become an alcoholic already. Alcoholics are treated in rehab centers by experts, psychiatric and counselors. They also get hormone treatments to curb the urge for drinking. Rehab centers have all record of good results, and a person admitted into it usually comes out a rehabilitated person. Many people do not realize that what is achieved at the rehab center is the result of the hard work of all the people. It also means that personnel at the rehab center have succeeded in getting the full cooperation of the person concerned setting up the rehabilitation process.

Follow up action by the person concerned, his family members, friends and relatives to maintain what has been achieved at the rehab center. No effort should be spared to boost the self confidence of the patient. Eventually a completely transformed person can be seen, useful to his family and society in general. Self confidence and moral support are the keywords to success.
