Definition of Insomnia

Insomnia is the inability to sleep. Sometimes it occurs because someone is a little stressed out, has a rotating shift at work, is overtired or even excited about something. Other times is can be due to a medical situation or the stress on the body caused by surgery.

Still other times, insomnia can be a cause of trying to withdraw and wean the body off of continued drug use. Whether it is stopping a prescribed medication or trying to end an illicit habit, this is one of the most common causes of insomnia.

During the night, you might find that since you cannot sleep, one more time with the drug of choice would not hurt. That is when you need to reach for the phone, call the helpline and let someone help you through the crisis without turning to drugs.

It is no secret that relapses do occur in drug situations, and insomnia is one of the reasons for this. It can be stopped; however, and a relapse prevented if one can pick up the phone and call for help. Someone on the helpline can talk to you and help you through that urge. Eventually, your body will stop feeling such a strong desire but until then, the helpline is here to get you through the tough times so you can have victory over the feelings you are experiencing.

Fighting an addiction to drugs is never easy and with side effects such as insomnia when withdrawing from them, you need to know that someone is in your corner. You need to be reminded that it will not always be this way. Call the helpline center and let someone help you through that insomnia attack you are having. You deserve it, and we are here to see that you win out over the addiction.
