Outpatient Drug Treatment in New Brunswick

The drug problem in Canada is not nearly as bad as it is in other areas of the world. Just because fewer people are addicted to drugs does not mean that New Brunswick can afford to get lax. The only way to keep the drug problem small is by taking an aggressive stance.

One of the best ways to make sure that people don't become addicted to drugs is by making sure that the citizens of New Brunswick never start using. This is usually best accomplished with aggressive laws and penalties about the use of drugs. Law officers in New Brunswick are really cracking down on anyone who is caught selling opiates in New Brunswick.

Research indicates that most of the drug addicts in New Brunswick are addicted to opiates. Most of these opiates are actually being shipped up to New Brunswick from the United States. In an attempt to get the opiate situation under control, and to keep it from getting worse, the New Brunswick government is working on creating ways to track opiate use in New Brunswick. One of the ways that this is being done is by the officers marking a pill. This mark helps the officials track the pill as it makes its way around New Brunswick.

The biggest problem is that most of the opiates are legal, and doctors will prescribe them to patients. Many of the marked pills are being legally gotten and consumed. One of the things that can help the law officers in New Brunswick determine the exact source of the illegal opiates is to enlist the aid of people who have previously been addicted to opiates. The recovering addicts can inform the officers about where they got their opiates and help officers track down the dealers.

The current selection currently includes 12 step narcotics programs, residential treatment programs, and outpatient drug rehab programs. One of the more innovative programs that New Brunswick is trying to help their resident addicts overcome their addiction is biophysical treatment, which uses saunas to help the addict rid their body of the toxins left by the drugs.

One of the things that might help New Brunswick overcome their drug problem is setting up more outpatient drug rehab programs. Having more programs will allow more addicts to get the treatment and counseling that they need. The other thing that the government should consider when they are evaluating the effectiveness of the outpatient programs is to extend the length of the program. Having a longer program will allow the addict to get additional counseling and will increase the likelihood of them overcoming their addiction.
