Prescription Drugs Detox and Treatment Ontario
Prescription drug addiction is a major problem in Ontario. Prescriptions are one of the most problematic drugs available today. Oxycontin alone counts for four hundred deaths in Ontario over the last five years. Rehab centers are seeing a significant rise in the admissions due to prescription drugs, which at a surface glance is good, however for every person that was admitted, there are two out there (at least) that are addicted and unwilling, or unable to get help.
Residents of Ontario have been complaining that Oxycontin is too easy of a prescription to get, and some are even angered that it is paid for by the provincial health program. It is a very addictive drug, similar to heroin when addicts crush the pills and snort, or mix the powder with water to inject it. This type of prescription drug addiction is treated very similar to that of a street drug addiction, it is that severe.
Prescription drug addiction is responsible for forty to fifty percent of all drug related deaths in Ontario, followed by cocaine and then heroin. Ontario has seventeen drug related facilities in London alone, in an effort to combat the rising deaths and addictions. Some are outpatient with group sessions, and others are residential style structured. Every person is different and will respond differently to the treatments. Sitting down and talking with a doctor, or phoning one of these drug facilities will get you pointed in the right direction. There are many drug rehab centers in all of Ontario.
Buying prescription drugs on the street is a major money maker for the dealers, and an addict can quickly find themselves in other kinds of trouble to pay for the up to fifty dollars a pill, that is needed to fuel their addiction (Buying it at a pharmacy is about four dollars depending on the drug and dose). Families do need to intervene if they thing someone they love is addicted to any type of prescription drug. It is a dangerous thing to be addicted to, and your loved one does risk death from overdose, or getting involved in the other drug related activities. It is better to seek for a prescription drugs detox and treatment.
