Most people assume that when an individual leaves the detoxification facility their body is completely free of drugs. This is not true. The danger is not often that their body cannot handle the illness. The risk is that they may fall, hurt themselves such as hit their head.

Another concern is dehydration. A common result of withdrawal is severe nausea. The nausea makes it difficult for the person to keep anything in their stomach, or even want to try. They know what they have to do to keep the addicts as safe and comfortable as they possibly can.
