Inpatient Drug Rehab

There are several types of residential treatments in Canada. It can start with a 15 days program for a mild addiction to drugs that are not too addictive. There are the standard 28 days program that is usually twelve steps based. In the one month time frame, you can also find the cognitive therapy as well as the behavioral modification model. These treatments are for moderate addiction. When addicts have a severe addiction to drugs and alcohol, a 3 to 6 months program would be more suited as the individual needs enough time to address his issues and put his life back in order with a good reinsertion plan.

In Canada, there are actually 350 inpatient facilities that covers all types of residential settings and duration. Some treatment facilities are large and can hold up to 100 patients and more. Some others are small facilities that have just a few beds.  There are government funded rehab centers as well as private treatments which insurance or individuals will pay for the programs.

Length of Treatment Debate

The debate continues. Everyone seems to have their own opinion as for how long one should attend a treatment program to get a positive and successful result.

The answer is that you can’t put a timeline on a recovery.

Just because a program is longer, doesn’t mean it is better.

We have seen people go through treatment for one whole year, then relapse in only a few days. We have also seen people miraculously cured in only a few weeks.

It’s not the length of treatment that matters. What’s important is that the treatment is appropriate and effective for the individual. Everyone heals differently in a drug rehab facility.

Unfortunately, when you are frantically seeking treatment, logically it makes sense. Longer must be better. Not the case!

What is important is that you have a comprehensive assessment conducted by an unbiased substance abuse counselor before you contact your local facilities. One that can evaluate your needs, then based on the results of the assessment, make an effective and appropriate referral, or at least, provide you with a short list of facilities that best match your needs.

Not all treatment centers are created equal, and length of term doesn’t matter. Quality of care matters!

Residential Drug Rehab Centers

Residential Drug rehab centers are facilities that you attend on a more or less volunteer basis. The drug rehabilitation will provide you room and board for the time of your recovery.

Drug rehab residential are recommended for drug addict or alcoholic that have a severe addiction. As opposed to drug rehab outpatient, the addict does not go back to his environment. The residential option is the better one as the environment is always a big trigger for an addict. Just the fact that you pull someone off of his environment is therapeutic by itself. Unfortunately, this is not enough.

Call us now or fill our online form. We will assess you or will gather the information on the person you want to help. Then we will advice you on the best detox and drug rehab possible.

Drug and Alcohol Residential Rehab

There are different locations, a huge number of programs and different durations for each residential programs. How do you sort this out?

The questions to ask when you are looking for a program are:

What is their philosophy about addiction?

If they tell you that it cannot be cured, he will live with it all his life, he will relapse, then they are just telling that their success rate is not good.

The second important question is:

What is their success rate?

You want to know if their program works. If they give you a vague answer, it does not look good. Either they have a really low success rate or their aftercare is really poor. The success rate, when it is good would be the first thing that they will promote. Don't let anyone give you some vague answers.

The last important question is:

What's their Staff/Patient ratio.

During our own researches, we got so much different ratio. From 1 staff/ 10 patient to 1staff/ 1 patient.

Also the length of the therapy is a factor.

All of the above can seem confusing. When someone has to face drug addiction or help someone with such problem, it can be hard to think clearly and we want you to take the best decision possible.

DRS can help you with this dilemma.
