Methamphetamine Detox and Rehab in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Meth Addiction Treatment Sherwood Park, AB
When searching meth use in Sherwood Park, the first headline reads “Crystal Meth Horror Story”. Imagine your child calling you on the phone and telling you that he or she is tired, hungry, sleeping on a park bench, and wants to come home. Could you say no? One mother tells you that if you are the parent of a crystal meth addict, it’s what you have to say no matter how much it hurts.
Upon the advice from professionals who deal with addicts, all that will happen if you let them return, is they’ll eat and sleep, and leave again for an indefinite period of time, she adds. This woman lives in Sherwood Park and has been through a year of almost constant crisis battling through issues of drug abuse and addiction with her 16-year-old son.
Her son grew up in a loving home with a supportive extended family education available on the danger of drug use. Despite all of this, he chose a path of self-destruction and drug use. By the end of tenth grade, he had experimented with crystal meth and was addicted.
David was arrested while high for possession of hash and crystal meth. He was sentenced to nine months probation and less than a month later, was arrested again for being under the influence of crystal meth, in the possession of a stolen vehicle, and several counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000. His parents also found out that he was running drugs for a dealer in order to finance his own addiction.
In her efforts to help her son, this mother is lobbying the government to implement methamphetamine treatment facilities. She feels Children’s Services, Health and Wellness, and the Justice departments should all combine efforts to bring about changes. She also has issues with the Child Welfare Act that empowers children to act on their own behalf. She notes that David, at his age, could just sign himself out of a meth program and walk away. And while she struggles with bureaucracy, she hopes programs will be implemented in time to save her son.
There are some methamphetamine detox programs or rehab treatments available in Sherwood Park and all over Alberta. It is important to get all addicts to attend a meth addiction treatment. We can help people choose which meth treatment option is best.
