Short-Term Drug Rehab in Winnipeg, Manitoba

The name Winnipeg came from the Cree word meaning “muddy waters”, and the city has a huge demographic of First Nations people. The city has a very rich and diverse culture, but it is impacted by crime, drug and alcohol problems, especially among the youth. The city does offer short-term treatment programs, and also long term ones. Like anything else, if a short term center does not fit, go for something longer.

Drug education and drug prevention do take place, but the problem is that prevention and education are not as available as they should be. This brings about a thing where the population gets exposed to drugs, gets addicted, and then they don’t seek treatment, even though it is offered. According to statistics, of the population that is 12 years old or older, 15 % is addicted to some substance. This is enormous and is very alarming. However, what is even more alarming is that only about 4% of all these addicts will get help at a treatment center.

Then entire society of Winnipeg is affected by drug addiction. A lot of crimes take place in the city and are linked to drugs, whether it is an addict looking for a way to get more drugs, or two rival drug dealers fighting for territory. Crime rates fluctuate quite a bit in the city, and drugs seem to be right at the heart of it all.

There a few short term alcohol and drug programs in Winnipeg. Always contact a counselor to find out if short term is the right program for you or a loved one.
