What Are the Weight Factors Linked with Alcohol Addiction?

Drinking alcohol is an activity that many people take part in. It can be a social occasion or something that people do to get rid of anxiety and stress in their life. Many times, this alcohol consumption can lead to alcoholism that has a debilitating effect on that person's life. Through several research studies, factors have emerged that show an increased risk in complications from drinking and alcoholism. Alcohol and weight are some of these factors.

The effects of alcohol happen when alcohol makes it to the bloodstream. This carries the alcohol through the body, and especially into the neuron receptors of the brain. Once the alcohol hits the stomach it begins to break down into enzymes. These enzymes are then transported into the blood. Consuming a large amount of alcohol in a short period of time is the leading cause of alcohol poisoning. In a person who does not weight a lot, 110 pounds or smaller, the alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly. This leads to the body being overwhelmed by the enzymes and thus failing to breathe, frequent vomiting, and passing out.

Food consumption with alcohol will help to slow down the effects of the absorption. This will make it so that the unabsorbed amounts of alcohol are passed through the urine. However, there is a danger that too much alcohol can damage the liver and kidneys.

This means that it causes water to be lost through dehydration. There is also the loss of important minerals and vitamins as the body tries to metabolize the alcohol in the system. There are some alcohol treatment programs that will address in a natural way the detox aspects of alcoholism. As already stated, when someone eats when they are drinking it is stored as body fat. That same person then has guilty feelings and will skip meals to make up for the calories ingested. This leads to other eating disorders that can be intensified through the use of alcohol.
