Drug And Alcohol Shelter Programs In British Columbia

The province of British Columbia has always put large resources towards helping people struggling with addiction and also helping people who may be homeless and needing a place to live as they may have come across some very hard times. Throughout the province of British Columbia, there are just over 8 different shelters located in different cities across the province. Many of these shelters are located in the lower mainland in Vancouver and the surrounding cities, which are able to help the people in need living in those areas. Many of these shelters are fully equipped to help addicts and people struggling with addiction, and many homeless individuals are addicts, and addiction may have been the main reason why they ended up homeless. There are also shelters specifically set up to help only women and just men, along with many of these shelters able to help youth and young adults. Some shelters throughout the province are able to help First Nations people and provide services based on their culture and beliefs. The Salvation Army operates many different shelters throughout the area, and has been providing help for addicts and homeless people for quite some times, they are also able to help provide transition homes for people who are starting over again and require a place to transition back into society after overcoming addiction or overcoming homelessness. Most of these shelters are run by dedicated volunteers and operate through fund-raising and donations made by the communities they serve. Some shelters operate on government funding and help from federal and provincial governments through grants and other funding.
