Axis Behavioural Health

Updated on: 28 January 2026

About this center

Axis Behavioural Health in Kelowna, BC is a community-based addiction support and outpatient recovery services organization focused on helping adults whose substance use, and the real-life consequences tied to it, has already begun affecting work, relationships, housing, or daily functioning. It’s not a residential treatment centre; instead, Axis provides clinical counselling, intensive outpatient support, interventions, and workplace-oriented services that connect recovery work directly into the life someone is still living.

Outpatient Recovery That Fits Into Everyday Life

Adults typically engage with Axis when past efforts to manage alcohol or drug use on their own haven’t held and routine obligations, jobs, family roles, or daily responsibilities, are still part of daily life. The centre’s intensive outpatient programs offer therapeutic and educational sessions several times a week that help clients stabilize, understand underlying patterns, and build practical coping skills while remaining in their home and community environment.

Clinical Support and Family Involvement

Axis goes beyond one-on-one counselling by including family support and specialised counselling that addresses not just substance use but the broader emotional, relational, and behavioural patterns connected to it. This includes facilitated group work, relapse-prevention planning, and ongoing aftercare that helps clients strengthen recovery routines without disconnecting from work or family life.

Intervention and Connection to Further Care

In addition to outpatient counselling, Axis offers professional intervention services to help families and loved ones guide someone into treatment when use has already disrupted stability. Their team includes board-certified interventionists and addiction counsellors who can assess needs, plan an effective intervention, and accompany someone into appropriate treatment settings. The organization also helps clients connect with treatment centres across the Okanagan when a higher level of care is needed.

Workforce and Employer Support

Axis also specialises in workplace substance-abuse resources, helping employers build policies, manage assessments, and support safe, healthy workforces. These services recognize that addiction often intersects with job performance and organisational safety, offering a connection between employee wellbeing and recovery-oriented support.

For Adults Who Need Recovery Fitted Into Daily Roles

Axis Behavioural Health tends to be used by adults whose substance use has already begun to interfere with what matters in life but who still need to maintain everyday roles: work, family, and community, while engaging in recovery work. It’s a place where recovery clarifies patterns, builds skills, and connects people with enduring support without the need to step out of daily responsibilities.
