Freedom’s Door is a non-profit residential recovery program in Kelowna, British Columbia for adult men whose alcohol or drug use, combined with life stressors, emotional strain, and destabilized routines, has already begun affecting their daily functioning. This is a live-in environment where participants commit to a structured recovery experience that balances personal accountability, peer community, and ongoing support.
A Structured Residential Setting When Everyday Life Is Disrupted
Men usually enter Freedom’s Door after repeated efforts to change on their own haven’t held and the consequences of substance use are visible: in housing instability, strained relationships, or functional setbacks at work or school. Residents live together in safe, supervised homes where stability, routine, and peer support create the framework for recovery work to unfold each day.
Daily Life Anchored in Community and Growth
The core program is rooted in a 12-Step philosophy supported by Christian principles and unfolds over approximately 90 days of concentrated engagement. Daily routines blend group and individual reflection, life-skill building, spiritual grounding, and mutual support to help participants slow down disruptive habits and build steadier patterns that can carry beyond residency.
Planning Beyond the Initial Phase
Freedom’s Door doesn’t end with the core 90-day phase; residents can transition into extended care (“Next Steps”) and community care housing as they move toward independence. These later stages help smooth the shift back into everyday life, connect participants to employment or education opportunities, and support continued growth and stability after the residential phase ends.
For Men Ready to Rebuild While Fully Engaged in Life
This centre is often chosen by men whose substance use has already interfered with what matters most: jobs, relationships, emotional balance, or housing, and who need a sustained, structured residential space where recovery is lived every day, supported by peers and staff committed to long-term transformation.
