Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society (KFS) is a community organization in Kelowna, BC that offers a range of health and wellness services with a culturally grounded, trauma-aware approach for adults whose substance use, stress, or emotional health concerns have begun affecting daily life: work, family roles, routines, or wellbeing. As part of a wider set of community programs, the Health & Wellness support focuses on outpatient counselling and recovery-oriented support.
Support That Fits Into Everyday Life
People tend to come here when previous attempts to manage substance use or related emotional patterns on their own haven’t held and the consequences are visible in daily roles. KFS’s Health & Wellness services include one-on-one counselling, group sessions, referrals to additional resources, and workshops that help individuals explore patterns of use, develop coping strategies, and build wellness skills grounded in cultural safety and community context.
Counselling and Recovery Within Community Context
Services are delivered in an outpatient environment that allows clients to remain engaged with work, family, and community while doing recovery work. The mental health and addictions counselling incorporates culturally relevant elements and holistic perspectives to support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual balance.
Broader Wellness Support Beyond Substance Use
In addition to substance use-focused counselling, KFS’s Health & Wellness services support related challenges like stress, anxiety, emotional regulation, anger management, and connection to community and culture. The centre connects clients to complementary workshops, group learning, and referrals that help strengthen daily routines and resilience outside of clinical sessions.
A Community-Centred Option for People Ready to Build Stability
KFS is often used by adults, including Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, who recognize that patterns of use or emotional stress are interfering with their stability but who need structured, culturally rooted outpatient support that fits into the life they’re still living, alongside ongoing responsibilities.
