About this center

Last Door Recovery Centre’s Youth Addiction Treatment Program in New Westminster, BC is a long-term residential recovery setting for young people whose alcohol, drug, or related addictive behaviours have begun affecting school, family roles, emotional stability, or daily functioning. Rather than brief outpatient appointments, this program offers a structured, live-in environment where youth live on site while engaging deeply in recovery work and life-skills development. Medical detox is also offered for those who need it.

A Residential Setting When Everyday Life Is Unstable

Young people usually come here when their substance use has started causing trouble in the life they’re still living, attendance issues, strained family dynamics, risk of legal involvement, or emotional challenges, and when past efforts to change haven’t held. Living on site provides stability and a predictable daily rhythm that helps youth focus on recovery without the pressures and triggers of their previous environment.

Recovery Lived Through Community, Structure, and Learning

The youth program uses a social model of recovery that blends mental health assessments, individual and group therapy, peer support, balanced nutrition, recreation, and positive socialization into daily life. Participants also have access to educational opportunities and family counselling so that growth and responsibility can extend beyond substance use alone.

A Continuum That Includes Life Skills and Longer Engagement

Programming spans from about three months to over a year, giving youth time to begin shifting values, beliefs, and behaviours in ways that support better decision-making and increased self-esteem. Longer stays include return-to-school support and other life-skills elements that help participants build routines and confidence they can carry into life after residency.

For Young People Ready to Live Recovery Every Day

Last Door’s Youth Addiction Treatment Program is often used by teens and emerging adults (ages roughly 13–18 and up to 25) whose substance use has already started to disrupt what matters most: education, relationships, and stability, and who need a sustained residential environment where recovery is practiced daily with structure, community, and accountability, not just occasional clinical sessions.
