Our House Addiction Recovery Centre is a nonprofit residential addiction recovery program in Edmonton, Alberta that offers one of Canada’s few year-long residential recovery pathways for adult men (18+). Founded in the mid-1980s and grounded in a mission of hope and transformation, the centre provides a structured environment where long-term recovery from substance use and related challenges can unfold with depth and continuity.
A Full-Year Residential Commitment to Lasting Recovery
Rather than short-term or episodic treatment, Our House requires a minimum one-year residential commitment that supports residents in developing stability, insight, and practical skills over time. Trained addictions counsellors guide participants through a series of psycho-educational modules and experiential courses designed to address not just abstinence, but the emotional, behavioural, and social patterns that contribute to long-term recovery.
Recovery Shaped by Structure, Peers, and Personal Insight
Daily life at Our House blends structured routines with consistent peer involvement, counselling, and step-oriented reflection. Residents engage in group work, individual counselling, and integration into supportive recovery communities outside the facility, building trust, accountability, and lasting social connections. Stability and routine are central: living, learning, and healing take place alongside supportive peers in a residential setting built for depth and continuity.
Preparing for Life Beyond Residential Care
As men move through the year-long process, emphasis gradually shifts toward preparation for reintegration. Case planning supports connection with employment, education, community recovery networks, and family relationships, helping participants transition from structured residential living into empowered, self-directed life in the wider world.
A Long-Term Path for Men Committed to Change
Our House Addiction Recovery Centre suits men who are ready to commit to a year or more of structured residential recovery. The program’s length and community focus distinguish it from shorter treatment options.
