Peguis Al-Care Treatment Centre

Updated on: 4 February 2026

About this center

Peguis Al-Care Treatment Centre is a culturally anchored addiction recovery program located on Peguis First Nation that provides adults (18+) with structured support for problematic substance use through both residential and outpatient components. The centre is funded under the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) and integrates core therapeutic services with community-connected activities and cultural engagement.

A 42-Day Residential Cycle That Blends Treatment With Community Support

The program operates on a 42-day cycle with intake approximately once every six weeks. Residents engage in a structured, supervised recovery setting where daily life is combined with recovery work — including individual and group counselling, relapse prevention education, life-skills development, and culturally informed activities, that help people unpack substance use challenges and build healthier patterns.

Therapeutic Services and Cultural Integration

Treatment components extend beyond counselling to include intake screening, assessment, case management, crisis intervention, recreation therapy and personal recovery planning. Cultural elements and activities are integrated into the recovery process to reinforce identity, resilience and community connection alongside clinical supports.

Outpatient Services and Continuing Support

In addition to residential care, Peguis Al-Care offers outpatient services for people who may need flexible support or are transitioning out of the core residential program. These services help individuals maintain progress and link into ongoing resources while remaining in their community.

Accessible Care With Indigenous Language Support

The centre accommodates clients in English and First Nations (Cree) and provides wheelchair-accessible services, reflecting an inclusive and community-anchored approach to care.

Community-Focused Recovery With a Continuum of Services

Operating as part of the broader Peguis First Nation health and wellness framework, Peguis Al-Care partners with local resources to support individuals through both acute recovery phases and longer-term well-being planning, helping them build coping skills, accountability, and resilience that matter in real-world life beyond treatment.
