Day One Society is a community-based addiction services organization in Kamloops, BC that supports adults and youth whose substance use has already begun affecting their daily lives: routines, work, relationships, housing stability, or emotional wellbeing. Beyond outpatient counselling, it provides a residential detox setting and supportive recovery living along with counselling, transition support, and youth-focused services, so recovery work is anchored in real-life needs.
A Safe Place to Begin When Crisis Has Already Appeared
People often come to Day One Society when managing substance use on their own hasn’t held and the consequences are showing up in how they’re still living. The centre operates a medically supported detox program at its Phoenix Centre, offering assessment, monitored withdrawal support, and supportive counselling in a 24/7 residential setting — giving individuals a safe place to start recovery during the physically and emotionally intense early phase.
Recovery Lived Through Connection, Routine, and Practical Support
Beyond detox, Day One Society’s work extends into supportive transitional living in recovery (STLR), a residential phase for adults who have completed detox and are continuing with outpatient care. In this setting, participants are part of a communal living environment where routines, life skills, and recovery planning help bridge the gap between intensive support and everyday responsibilities.
Services That Meet People Where They’re Still Living
Day One Society also offers youth counselling and family support, helping young people and their families navigate substance use challenges within school and community life. These programs focus on real-world impacts like school attendance, family dynamics, and social functioning, not only clinical outcomes.
For People Who Need Structure to Begin Change
Day One Society tends to be used by individuals, both adults and youth, whose substance use has already disrupted stability and who need a residential foothold or structured community support where recovery is built into the daily rhythm of life through connection, routine, and practical support.
