Updated on: 4 February 2026

About this center

Sophia Recovery Centre’s Charlotte County site in St. Stephen is a non-residential, community-based recovery support centre for women seeking meaningful change from alcohol, drug and other addictive behaviours. The centre offers continuing care and supportive services that help participants build healthier habits, strengthen coping skills, and connect with peers and mentors in real-world settings. All services are provided free of charge thanks to community funding and donor support.

Peer Support, Workshops and Wellness Activities

At this Charlotte County location, 89 Prince William Street, women can access peer mentoring, group workshops, social and wellness activities, and informal drop-in support that encourage connection and community. Programming includes peer-led meetings, creative and wellness groups, relapse prevention education, and recovery-oriented activities designed to fit into everyday life, helping participants strengthen resilience and accountability alongside others facing similar challenges.

A Welcoming, Inclusive Outpatient Environment

Sophia Recovery Centre emphasizes a supportive atmosphere where women can engage in recovery coaching, share experiences, and learn practical tools for coping with substance use issues while maintaining their daily responsibilities. Open House hours and structured sessions provide opportunities for participants to drop in, engage with staff, and access one-on-one or group support without entering a treatment facility.

Part of a Broader Recovery Network in Southern New Brunswick

The Charlotte County office is one of several Sophia Recovery Centre locations, including Saint John, Kennebecasis Valley and Sussex, working collaboratively to offer accessible, community-anchored recovery support for women across the region. Its goal is to create safe spaces where women can pursue healing, build supportive connections, and strengthen life skills in a way that aligns with their real-world roles and routines.
