Sophia Recovery Centre’s Sussex location is a community-based, non-residential recovery support centre for women whose alcohol, drug or other addictive behaviours have affected their wellbeing, relationships or daily life. It’s part of a broader nonprofit network that provides peer-anchored recovery programming across southern New Brunswick, with sites in Saint John, the Kennebecasis Valley, Charlotte County and Sussex, that help women build healthier patterns and resilience while remaining embedded in their everyday lives.
Community-Driven Peer Mentoring and Workshops
At this Sussex centre, women can access one-on-one peer mentoring, group workshops, Open House drop-in hours and social & wellness activities (like art, gardening or writing circles) that promote connection, coping skills and shared healing. Peer mentors, many with lived recovery experience, walk alongside participants to offer practical support, encouragement and tools for navigating recovery challenges.
Recovery Support That Fits Everyday Life
Services at Sophia are designed to be accessible and flexible, allowing women to engage with structured recovery support while continuing work, family and community roles. Workshops and group sessions address recovery-relevant themes such as relapse prevention, trauma processing, relationships and self-esteem. All activities and programs are offered free of charge thanks to donor support and community funding.
Part of a Broader Network Supporting Women Across the Region
The Sussex site is one of four Sophia Recovery Centre locations serving southern New Brunswick, including Saint John, the Kennebecasis Valley and Charlotte County. This network offers a consistent, welcoming environment where women can pursue recovery-oriented engagement that connects with real-world roles and responsibilities while building social support and personal stability.
