The Bridge Youth & Family Services’ Youth Recovery House in Kelowna, BC is a live-in residential substance use recovery setting for young people aged roughly 12–18 whose alcohol or drug use, and often overlapping struggles with mental health, has already begun disrupting school, family life, friendships, emotional balance, or daily functioning. This is a secure, substance-free residential environment where youth live on site and engage in recovery every day.
A Residential Setting When Staying at Home Isn’t Enough
Youth typically come here when repeated attempts to reduce or stop substance use while remaining at home or in community-based programs haven’t held and when the consequences of use are visible in the life they’re still living, such as school disruption, family stress, or emotional instability. The residential model offers stability, routine, and structured support in a safe space that reduces exposure to old triggers and everyday pressures.
Recovery Embedded in Structure, Support, and Flexibility
Life in the Youth Recovery House is lightly structured and flexible, tailored to each young person’s journey. It begins with a comprehensive intake assessment that helps shape individualized goals, and days include safe routines, communal living, meals that follow nutrition guidelines, and opportunities for reflection and growth. The centre can also provide continuum services that range from withdrawal management and stabilization through treatment planning and aftercare support, all designed to meet youth where they are and move them toward steadier patterns.
Planning Toward What Comes Next
Although the core work happens in the live-in setting, the Youth Recovery House connects participants with supports that help bridge the transition back into school, family life, or community activities. This includes aftercare and ongoing recovery planning so that gains made in residence can translate into daily routines and responsibilities outside the program.
For Young People Ready to Live Recovery Daily
The Youth Recovery House is often used by young people whose substance use has already begun to interfere with important areas of their life and who need a sustained, residential space to begin building habits, insight, and stability through community, structure, and consistent support.
