Is It True Some Countries Allow Children to Drink Alcohol?

Every country has its own legislation, and that’s why every country has its own rules about what you can and can’t do until you are an adult. Furthermore, the age when someone becomes a legal adult varies, but it is mostly 18. One of the most common things that distinguish an adult from a child or, more exactly, and adolescent is the age when someone can purchase and drink alcohol. The USA has the highest figure in this case because people there can purchase and drink alcohol after they are 21 years old. There are some countries where everyone can purchase alcohol, but every country has its own minimum drinking age. Generally, the drinking age is 18. That’s when you basically become an adult worldwide. Still, there are some countries, including Spain, Austria, Germany, and France, that has the drinking age set to 16. At 16, the person is basically still a minor.

There are some countries that allow children below the drinking age to consume alcohol, but not purchase it. This is rather weird because no country should allow children to drink alcohol. Alcohol does lots of damage to everyone who consumes it, but drinking children are suffering even more from the effects. Furthermore, if a child starts drinking, it is more likely that he will become an alcoholic if he doesn’t stop. These countries basically encourage alcoholism by letting children drink. 16 is also a bit too little to let them drink because their body isn’t completely developed and alcohol is a poison. On the other hand, if a child wants to start drinking, he will manage to do it somehow. In every country, there are cases of drinking children, no matter what the drinking age is. Maybe if they know that they are allowed to try they will see the risk more clearly and not develop an alcohol problem later.
