Is It True That Alcohol Can Shorten Your Life?

Alcohol is basically a poison in large quantities, and just like any other unhealthy substance we ingest; this affects our entire body, leading to all kinds of diseases. This will influence the longevity of your life. Even smoking shortens your life with a few years if using excessively, because of the damage on the lungs. The same happens with fast food that will increase your cholesterol, affecting the liver and damaging your circular system, creating problems with the heart. And these products aren’t as damaging as alcohol, because the last one also affects the brain. Consuming alcohol for a long period of time, or in large quantities will severely affect your body, and you will develop different diseases that will slowly damage your internal organs.

Everyone knows about the effects of alcohol on the human body, how it affects the brain, the liver, the circulatory system, basically almost every organ. Imagine consuming alcohol every day, and more than just one glass while eating your dinner. Alcoholics can’t even eat at some point, because of the extensive damages on their stomach and small intestine. They only want to drink, don’t feel hunger anymore and when they try to eat, they feel sick. Drinking on an empty stomach will make it even worse, because your body can’t protect itself anymore against the alcohol you ingested. This will get into your bloodstream very quickly and get to every organ, affecting primarily the liver, where alcohol is metabolized. Beer affects the kidneys as well, and it is considered that a bottle of beer is affecting the kidneys like a punch. And while you can live with some kidney damage, no one can live if their liver is damaged. Every session of heavy drinking means a little of damage for your organs, damage that wasn’t supposed to happen.
