Drug Rehab Treatment Programs In Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

The Battle of Drugs in Moose Jaw

The name might not be one that people understand, but for many Moose Jaw is home. Located on the Moose Jaw River, it's home to nearly thirty-six thousand thousand people. Of those people, they are worried about the issue brewing in their neck of the woods. What might that be? This would be the issue of teenage drug addiction that is spreading like wildfire.

The Bigger Picture

There are many who have watched this province grow. While they watch it grow, they have watched more teens throw their lives away to the drugs that they feel they have to have. This has been going on for quite some time, but it was just in the past few years that the government of Canada has stepped in to bring an end to this disaster. They are working with the area to see to it that this stops as it is an ever-growing concern of many who are raising children. The YMCA has pledged its support to start programs to reach the children whom they can reach. Other programs will begin as well.

Studies Show

As part of learning about what drug rehabilitation programs in Saskatchewan need to focus on, studies have been done. From those studies, they have learned a lot. One thing they have learned is the common age for drug use. Ten percent of the youth doing drugs are in the twelve to seventeen-year age range. Forty percent are ages eighteen to twenty-five. We have also learned that while marijuana is one drug that they are using, there are more who prefer the club drugs as they are described. This would include ecstasy.

Education the Answer?

Many think that the more we educate the youth about the dangers of drugs, the less they will use. This might be true, but there is somewhere it’s just too late. That is why the people and the government of Moose Jaw are working to help those who need the help more. Counseling is just one of the things that teens must go through in order to get through their addictions. These programs are needed, but many have found that treatment starts with just getting them to talk, but this could have been prevented had they been properly informed about the things drugs can do to you. Not only do they have to educate teens, but it is recommended that they should also educate parents as well along with others who will be working closely alongside those teens. This is where many say treatment begins.
