Long-Term Residential Drug & Alcohol Rehab Centers in New Brunswick

Last updated: Monday, 28, March 2022

Throughout much of New Brunswick drug and alcohol problems have impacted families from every part of the province, and more recently such drugs as Fentanyl and other opiates have been making an impact. Overdose deaths have forced many of the local communities to drastic measures to save people and families from these drugs. Long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment offers numerous methods of treatment to help individuals and families through these difficult situations. The long-term residential drug treatment process does tend to have excellent results, especially if the patient is willing to receive help for his or her problem. The long-term residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs that operate throughout the province of New Brunswick include seven different facilities all providing various forms of traditional and non-traditional methods of substance abuse treatment. Families and individuals can choose from privately funded treatment centers and those programs that are subsidized by the provincial government. A long-term inpatient rehab center will offer drug detox and therapy in-house and can provide the necessary assessments for any family to determine what will be the best drug rehab option.

Throughout New Brunswick and in Saint John and Moncton, along with other towns and cities are long-term drug rehab centers, where addicts can receive detox, therapy, and aftercare treatment. The focus of long-term drug treatment programs is to help the patient regain control of his or her life, achieve sobriety, maintain this sobriety, and accomplish this in the most effective way possible. One of the benefits of these extended-stay drug treatment centers is the ability of the patient to transition back into society again and become a contributing member of that society. Most long-term programs create a home-like environment, and it really does become a little community within the center. There is structure, rules, and each patient will have certain responsibilities during the time they are staying at the facility in New Brunswick. All of this combined with therapy offers well-rounded treatment options for a patient and his or her family.

When making the decision to attend an extended care facility or drug rehab program, the family and the addict should ask for some initial information such as:

  • What certifications does the staff have to treat addiction and mental health problems - most treatment facilities provide staff to client ratio.
  • Among the people working in the facility, are there medical staff - depending upon the type of drug treatment center, there may be doctors or other medical professionals working in the facility.
  • What type of education is provided - this can include life skills, coping mechanisms, and tools to problem solve and troubleshoot issues in life.
  • Is family involved in treatment - most drug rehab programs will provide family counseling and therapy, and this can include family visitation when allowed.

Some of these considerations could potentially be overwhelming, but the family can take the time to put together a list of questions and the information they are seeking to make the choice that much easier.
