The people in Newfoundland and Labrador have access to many different drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs and services. Many of these include drug education and prevention. There are just over a couple of different facilities that provide drug education and prevention; the facilities include the Humberwood Treatment Center and the Labrador Health Centre, located on the island of Newfoundland. These two facilities provide drug education and prevention to youth and adults in the local communities in Newfoundland. Drug education is designed to ensure people are given current and up-to-date knowledge about drugs, including what drugs are, the types of drugs being used, how they affect the body and mind, and what can cause an addiction to take place. This information is kept up to date and provided in ways that teens and adults are able to understand and retain so as to make smart choices and say no to drugs. Drug prevention is set up to help teens who may already be experimenting with drugs and to also help adults not to take advantage of drugs being offered to them at social events and in moments of stress. Drug prevention is there to help prevent people from becoming hooked on drugs and alcohol, and help new users stop using drugs and abusing alcohol.
