Outpatient Drug And Alcohol Rehab Centers In Nunavut

Within Nunavut there are three different outpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers; located in Cambridge Bay, Igloolik, and Rankin Inlet, these facilities provide various treatment methods to help addicts. Within these facilities, patients can receive some of the following forms of help:

  • Couples counseling – this process can help anyone within a relationship, whether they are married, common law, or dating; couple's counseling can also be beneficial for two people who are together and using drugs.
  • Treatment for First Nations – many indigenous people live throughout Nunavut, and there are specific drug treatment services to help the people living within these communities.
  • Assessment – an addiction assessment is a good way to help an addict, and their families determine what type of treatment will work best for them, and can assist with narrowing down the best possible rehabilitation methods.
  • Aftercare treatment – when a person completes his or her drug and alcohol treatment, they should work through some type of aftercare treatment, which can help them transition back into society again and re-establish their lives.

The detox process within an outpatient drug rehab program operates quite differently than inpatient programs. Most outpatient drug and alcohol rehab centers can help addicts with mild to moderate withdrawals, but for more severe withdrawals, they would have to attend a hospital inpatient program. Outpatient treatment centers are not necessarily equipped to detox severe addictions, especially those that may require a medical detox treatment. During the outpatient treatment process, patients may be required to visit a hospital for regular check-ups, and some of the on-site clinicians may administer medications to alleviate some of the withdrawal symptoms. Because patients remain at home during his or treatment, this will give ample opportunity for them to build a strong support structure around them while they are attending daily therapy. Some patients stay connected to twelve-step support groups and other organizations that offer help to addicts and recovering addicts.

Marcel Gemme has been helping people struggling with addiction for over 19 years. He first started as an intake counselor for a drug rehabilitation center in 2000. During his 5 years as an intake counselor, he helped many addicts get the treatment they needed. He also dealt with the families and friends of those people; he saw first-hand how much strain addiction puts on a family and how it can tear relationships apart. With drug and alcohol problems constantly on the rise in the United States and Canada, he decided to use the Internet as a way to educate and help many more people in both those countries. This was 15 years ago. Since then, Marcel has built two of the largest websites in the U.S. and Canada which reach and help millions of people each year. He is an author and a leader in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. His main focus is threefold: education, prevention and rehabilitation. To this day, he still strives to be at the forefront of technology in order to help more and more people.
