Alcohol Residential Treatment In Oshawa, Ontario
When you make the decision to get help for an addiction to alcohol and are admitted into a residential rehab program, you are probably going to be feeling very anxious, this is perfectly natural, if you have never gone through the rehabilitation program than you have no way of knowing what to expect.
You should not really expect that the rehab program is going to be just like what you have seen on television. There will be some similarities but there are also some basic differences as well.
The first few days of the rehab process are going to be horrible. You will have already gone through the initial detoxification process and should be over the worse of your withdrawal symptoms, but you will still be experiencing some withdrawal. You will most likely feel out of sorts, like you have a flu that you simply cannot quite shake. The worse part will be how badly you feel like you need a drink. Your cravings will be intense and there are going to be large periods of time when that is all you will be able to think about. It is important that you keep in mind that this period of time will pass. It might take a little while, but eventually you will start to feel better and will find yourself becoming more and more interested in your counseling sessions as well as the stories of the other recovering alcoholics who are going through the same things that you are.
Most of your time in Oshawa’s rehab is going to be spend in counseling sessions. Some of these will be group sessions, but there will also be individual sessions as well. The purpose of these sessions is to help you understand the nature of your alcohol addiction, how you became addicted to alcohol, and what habits you are going to have change once you have been released from the alcohol abuse treatment and are responsible for yourself again. The key to making it through rehab is to remember to take everything one day at a time.
